- That is a question to ask your own authorities, you get a passport to travel outside your country, the destination has no influence on the price you are charged for that passport.
- 1) you have to get a passport first, and this you get in the US. 2) Then you have to know if you need a visa, and if so you have to go to the French consulate covering your State To travel to France, I would have thought that below 3 month and for tourism, you wouldn't need a visa : you'd just get a stamp on arrival, and it would be free. But that may have changed since the US started to ask us for terrifying special visas with ugly photos (and requirements not to smile on it). evereything you need is supposed to be here : http://www.consulfrance-washington.org/spip.php?article384#3-Do-I-need-a-Schengen-visa-to-go except I didn't find it completely clear myself ! 3) finally, you have to check if your budget is enough for a stay here. You're quite young and it's not cheap, although you can always travel on a shoestring... but it's great !
- There is no price diffence between applying for a passport at the age of 17 or 18. There is also no renewal required when you turn 18. The cut-off age for minor/adult passport in US is currently 16 years old. A passport is issued at a standard price and currently it's $100 for a first time application. The issued passport will be valid for 10 years. Please note that if you're applying at 17, you must establish parental consent (e.g. get a letter with parental consent) but at 18, you're responsible for yourself and your application. For more information re passport application (for first time applicants), please check this link : http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/first/first_830.html US citizens can currently visit France for up to 90 days without visa requirement for tourism/business visit purposes.
- a passport is not just for France, it allows you to travel anywhere in the world. as long as you are under 18 years of age? the passport is considered a minor's passport,it is cheaper, at 18? you are an adult, here is the US passport link: http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html if you get it at 17? you will need parents to sign for it.
