Do british passport holders living outside the UK have access to NHS emergency services when visiting the UK? My mother is visiting me from South Africa for 2 weeks and is on a british passport. However will she be covered by the NHS for any emergencies or should she get travel insurance?

I applied for my first time passport 2 weeks ago as I am going away in 2 months, however in the meantime I found out yesterday that a friend of mine is critically ill and I need to get to paris right away to be with them. Emergency, Please Help. I don't know who I am, or rather THEY don't!? I have been trying for over a month now to obtain some form of identification to use to apply for a passport. I went to the Secretary of State to get a State ID and didn't recieve it. I called costumer service to see what happened to it and they said it was sent back to Lansing (capital of Michigan) and was destroyed! So I went back to the Secretary of State and they basically said it was my fault that the post office didn't mail it to my residence. They made me fill out another application and said my new card would be here in a few weeks. I don't have a few weeks! I need identification to get an emergency passport and I leave a week from Wednesday. What can I do? And is it legal that they destroyed my property? I called the emergency passport agency and they told me that my temporary card which has a phsyical description and signature will not work. They also said a student ID is not enough. In a hurry to get a passport, how exactly do i go about doing it? A friend of mine lives in Canada (Toronto) but she is moving further away in about 4 weeks. With the delays, is the govn't of Canada still offering their 2 week pick-up guarantee on passports for $10? I applied by person at a service center in Calgary for my passport. The day I submitted my application was Jan. 3 and at that time there was no communication to me about delays or any reason why I should not have my passport in time. I am booked for a trip Feb. 3 and was told by a service agent the only way to guarantee I get my passport at a decent time would be to pick it up rather then having it mailed. So I paid the extra fee. Now, as of Jan. 9 the government of Canada website is saying that there is a sharp increase of volume and that there are 5 to 20 day delays on passports. I submitted my application a week before this notice was presented to the public. Even though I paid to have my passport in Calgary at a certain date for pick-up, should I ALSO be expecting delays even though that was not originally communicated to me at the time of application? And what is considered an "emergency" which will allow me to get it in 24 hrs? I have proof of travel.

Nightmare started with fraudulent support order. I was jailed for 35 days. I filed for bankruptcy 3/10/1999.? Why is there injustice in the name of child support? …make a call, fax or write a letter, twit, blog, etc, etc… I am a father of two children who spent 50% of my time between California and Maryland. I want to do right by my children. But after the divorce my nightmare started with a family support order that was found to be fraudulent by the Federal Bankruptcy Court. The DA of the County of Santa Clara California (DA hereinafter) testified that I was making $6,000 a month, while I was unemployed. I was imprisoned for 35 days based on that fraudulent order. I filed for chapter 7 and chapter 13 bankruptcy protection. I had equity on three properties. Around 3/10/ 1999, the DA filed a claim for $115,000.00 to enforce pre petition child support arrears. The Bankruptcy Court denied the DA’s motion. The court also ordered a new family support court be entered. In 2000 my children and I were evicted from my home, 10 days after I filed for bankruptcy protection in violation of the automatic stay. We left with just clothes on our back and few personal items. I did not receive a penny for home owner exemption either. Since 2000, a new support order was entered by the family court. It should be $250, but the DA had my wages garnished for $850 a month. My wages are still garnished to this day, even though my children are now 20 and 19 years old. The DA has sent letters making me look like I am a dead beat dad owing $115,000.00 in child support arrears. The DA has intercepted nine years of my tax refunds. The DA has also taken a little money I saved for rainy days. The DA emptied all my bank accounts including the last one just a couple a months ago. I had not one, not two but all three of my properties foreclosed while I was under bankruptcy protection. The DA took over a million dollar from the proceeds of the three trustees’ sale. But the DA acknowledges taking only $80,000. I am homeless since 2000. I live in hotels. My credit is in the dump. It has been over a year since I moved to Maryland. But the DA refuses to transfer the case file to Maryland. The DA sent letters to the passport office to prevent me from renewing my passport. I need my passport for work and for family emergency to Africa where half of families still reside. The DA refuses to this day to send me monthly or annual statements. In September 2007, I received a letter stating that I still owe $145,000.00. I received another letter, from DA of Maryland, stating that I owe less than $4,000.00. The numbers do not add up. Sarah Elizabeth Tatum, 19, a Chaparral graduate, was arrested early Wednesday in connection with an incident on Monday in which she tried to dispose of the infant after giving birth in a university residence hall, police said. She told University of Arizona Police that she had a miscarriage in the shower and the baby was in a bag tied shut at the end of her bed, the complaint said. Attempts to reach her court-appointed attorney, Laura Udall, or family members in the Valley were not successful. Police cut the bag open and found a full-term male baby gasping for air. The baby was taken to a local hospital. Doctors said the baby was suffering from hypoxia, a lack of oxygen, and believe he was in the bag for at least two hours. Tatum told police in an interview that the baby was dead when she delivered it. Police noted that in the interview that Tatum used the phrase "after the baby died" when describing her actions in the shower. Tatum hid her pregnancy and did not seek prenatal care, according to the court document. Jamie Perez, 19, who lives in the same dormitory, said Tatum would not admit to anyone that she was pregnant. "We all thought she was pregnant, and when we would walk into the room she would turn and not face us," Perez said. "When people confronted her, she said that it was a thyroid problem." This is the second time I've asked, I'll add more detail. plan on moving to Ireland for a few years, just so I can have a base that I can retreat to as I travel abroad. I have been reading several different situations regarding OTH discharges and I believe that my situation is different for the most part. I was in Recruiting Command with the Army as a AGR (Reserve) Recruiter and had a lot of family and financial grievances involved at that time. I lost custody of my child and I couldn't pay for anything considering the shift of money that with put forward to fight the custody dispute. As a result of not being able to concetrate on my recruiting duties as well as not being able to put new HS contracts in the service instead of prior service, I received a NJP Article 15 with pay taken away for 2 months as well as restricted duty. As a recruiter, it is a given that I should stay off-base and with have to be a max of 25 miles away from the nearest military base in order to live on base from which I wasn't eligible. I couldn't pay for anything - not even living expenses and went to AER (Army Emergency Relief) 3 times and the last time with the Company Commander reccomendation to obtain emergency funds and I was not able to receive funds because of the NJP. It was getting to the point that my landlord was calling my work and I couldn't do anything about it because I had no money to do anything with. That week, I was called to a Battalion/Company meeting with the BC, CSM, CO, 1SG and Station CCommander and went through a drill of 20 questions regarding my situation with considerable backing from the Company Commander to my surprise. After deliberating for about an hour, the BC decided to seperate me immediately despite my plea to stay in the service. I started the process of seperation to the JAG briefing and was told by my S-1 office that I should receive a seperation order or a DFR order because I was technically in the Army Reserve. I went back to work and started to go to college full-time with no issues what so ever. I was receiving VA benefits from my previous honorable service and had no issues there as well. In 2009, I was arrested for a FTA warrant as well as a Deseration warrant and they kept me in jail for one day. When they released me next day, I never got any information regarding going to Fort Sill, OK for seperation processing from the corrections officer and considering that I received no information and they released, there was no reason to call anyone to find out more information. I went back to school full-time and I decided to study abroad in Japan so I applied for a passport in 2010. A letter came back from the State Department saying that there was a Deseration warrant out for me and they could not issue me a passport until it was cleared. I went to Recruiting Command and exchanged several e-mails with HRC and G-1 office and they showed that I was seperated, not listed as a deserter so the Recruiting Command Battalion Adjucant called Army Deserter Information Point and found out that there was a federal warrant out and it needed to be squared away. Before going to my old unit, I went to the county sheriff's office and they showed no warrant for deseration at all for me and I was in court several times between then regarding the Physical Control charge and they didn't see anything as well. After I got information from DIP via the BJA, I called AWOL apprehension and told them that I was going to turn myself in to get this all straghten out. Because the warrant was issued a second time, I was considered a escape risk, but like I said before, I never received any information regarding travel to Fort Sill, but because of the reissue of the warrant, they had to keep me in custody for 2 weeks and 1 day in a federal jail and I was finally flown to Fort Sill escorted to PCF (Personnel Control Facility) in order to start seperation processing. The seperation process took about 10 days to complete and it was all due to a misunderstanding or loss of paperwork with S-1 for the seperation in the first place. I have previous honorable service for 6 years under a combat MOS and have been deployed and have never ran from a job or went AWOL once. I have received several commendations in the service for that period of service and I go into Recruiting in a year and all this happens to me and it ends up ruining my career and what I love. I want to go back in, because its a part of who I am, it makes me a part of something more then me. I hate that this happened to me and despite my situation, I feel ashamed because I couldn't do anything about it. I want a chance and I'm hoping someone here has answers or information regarding how I can go about getting back in the service. I don't want 1 year of recruiting duty to f*** my life over because of a misunderstanding. I appreciate all your help and thank you for your time and understanding. Mike, not necessarily true - accordingly the previous discharge keeps my VA benefits and gives my 5-point status as well as show favor with ADRB and the wavier authority and I should make a correction that S-1 told me that I would receive a Seperation order, not a DFR order. I received a DFR order from G1 after talking to them about the situation. Considering I use to work with the command which actually handles the wavier and status. I rather believe the full-bird given my previous service and the circumstances in which I was to be seperated in the first place. I do appreciate your input and your thought in the matter. The DFR order was given in 2010 - FYI from G1 despite my status claiming seperated from HRC and AGR assessions. John - I admit that it was bone-headed for me to not check like you wanted me to, but if S1 tells me separation and I get with HRC and G1 and they tell me the same thing, then why should I doubt it? Especially when they have eyes on my entire record? You can call me stupid for doing this or that, but its funny that the command that discharged me is actually helping me with this and admits miscommunication and misplacement. I could go ahead and judge people left and right for whatever reason they were discharged but I don't. There are circumstances that are beyond control and people have to deal with the hand their dealt. I have nothing to hide and I have laid everything out in this question. If I did drugs, I would say it, but that's not the case. I think you need to reevaluate the situation and come up with a concenus that doesn't involve name-calling or judging, but rather advice so I can move forward instead of taking time to address negative input. Last month I accepted an offer from XYZ company in dubai for the post of Executive and reached dubai on 22nd of last month. Upon arrival they took my passport at the airport along with the visa which was a surprise considering the law around this in UAE. Next day when I reached their office in Sharjah to complete my joining formality, I enquired about the passport and I was shocked to know that they do this with every employee of their company. And if someone wants to go on leave they have to give their "Pataka" and AED 5500 as deposit if going within 18 months of continued service with them. Also if someone wants to resign and accept some other job in the market they hardly let that happen by creating problems including employment ban. Considering all This, I requested for an emergency leave to the management and managed to get somehow and reached India. Can you help me understand the fallbacks in this case. How to get the residency visa cancelled from my passport? will my employer claim the visa cost which they say is nearly AED 5500? How will be my chance of visiting UAE again? Is it safe to send my passport to them through courier? Will the local Dubai Authority file any case against me or this company in India since they have a branch here.

Tenant Rights - Trespass by Landlord? Upon coming home from work last night, I found a pink slip to say that some one had been in to service the boiler and other gas appliances. I was not given any notice and my permisson was not given. In the tenancy agreement it very clearly states that unless in an emergency I should be given 24 hours notice. My boyfriend and I spoke with the agency and we asked how long they had the keys etc. The agency said they had only given the contractor them that morning, they were very sorry etc. He offered to give me the spare keys, but that isn't much use as they have to have a copy for an emergency, then he offered to have the locks changed, but what good would that do??!! We had just returned from holiday too and had passports/money lying around as well as the usual stuff (laptops/MP3 players/etc). I feel like my privacy has been infringed. It almost feels like when some one breaks in. I know I can complain to the council, but that doesn't make me feel much better. I want to know what my legal rights are. There seems to be no information available as to tenant rights, other than on the government website, but they don't tell you what you should do if the scenarios actually occur. Thanks. Sorry to go on, but I am very upset about this. An agency expects the tenant to abide by the rules in the agreemement and would no doubt have no hesitation in eviciting me if I broke them. I expect my agency to keep to them too.
