Should I give my US Passport to a Rental Car Agency? I will be vacationing in the Philippines next month and was looking for rental car company in Manila. I found one with great rates, but part of their deal is I would have to give them my passport while I have the car. They look legit, have a nice website and have several locations in Manila. State ID and Birth Certificate not enough for US passport???? I applied for my US Passport on October the sixth. I went to a passport acceptance agency (US Post Office) and had the photos taken there, and also paid the fee to have it expedited. I was told It was door to door three weeks maximum. I paid two way overnight delivery as well. The total came to 195$. Three weeks passed, and I received a letter a few days before I was to receive my passport. It stated that I had not provided sufficient information to prove my identity, and that they required at least five documents with my photo and signature dated to prove who I am. It could be nothing recent. I provided my original Birth Certificate in good condition as well as my current Maryland State ID, just as it states on the site and they requested at the post office. Why was this not enough??? I of course do not have any of these documents and they all take weeks to get. I missed my trip. ANd they will not give me a refund, not even for having it expedited, because they said it was because they needed those other documents... I think this is complete crap. They told me "The state ID was not enough because it is a 'non-driving' ID." It says right on their site (travel.state.gov) all you need is those two documents. SO I spoke to a supervisor... He said the best thing he could tell me to do is go to DC to the agency with my mother, and my sibling who has a passport, and to bring my ID and social Secutiry card and try to work something out, but he could 'not assure me of anything.' I plan to go on Wednesday.... but I am worried I still won't get it. They seem to really not want to give me this thing that Ip aid for, for no good reason. They are also now saying that the passport photos taken by the post office were the wrong size, so now I have to go get those retaken. This is absurd! Honestly, what should I do?? Has anyone ever heard of anything like this??? Are they giving me the run around and if so why? ... before anyone asks, yes, it is legitimate, like I said I applied at a US post office. If so, what date did you receive it and was it an "e-passport" (biometric) or a regular one. You can tell by that chip symbol on the cover. They are supposed to be issuing all biometric ones by the end of the year, but they might be behind. I have to be applying for one soon, and I want to wait as long as possible so I can be sure I'll get a new biometric one. How to get US passport? Help?? Mom is Naturalize Citizen of the US.? Okay here's the deal. When I was young, my mom got a job in the US. My mom is from the Philippines, and she took the job and became an American citizen after spending 5 years in the US. When I was around 5 years old, my mom brought me to the US from the Philippines. So I spent most of my life here in the US (I'm now 18). Anyways, when I was about 10 years old, my mom took me to a passport agency and I had my picture taken, and I came out with my US passport. Yes, the blue one, that identified that I was a citizen of the US. So anyways to make the long story short. The passport that I took 8 years ago, has now expired. Or it did last year. It was only good for 7 years. My problem is, I can't renew my US passport because I had to be at least 16 when I got it, in order for me to renew it. Since I was only 10 back then, I can't renew it, I have to apply for a new one. In order for me to apply, I think I need to show proof that I am an American citizen. But how? I can't find my green card, and also even if i do find it somewhere, it said that it expired 2007. Do I need to get a Naturalization certificate for proof of my citizenship? Because at the time, when my mom took me to get my US passport for my citizenship (when I was 10 years old), she said that they didn't require me to have proof of citizenship, because when she brought me to the US, she was already an American cititzen and that also I was too young to obtain a US Naturalization Certificate (5 years old when I came to the US), it wasn't needed also, because she was already a citizen of the US. So my problem is, how will this work out? Can I get my passport?? Or will i have to pay to get a Naturalization certificate?? Can somebody please please help me. I called the US passport agency and they stated that they would put a rush in for my passport because it was still in the application process. I asked what would happen if I called this week and it was still not in the mail. The USPS lost my dad's naturalization certificate when the Passport Agency sent it back. Who is liable? I applied for my passport last year, but because I was under 18 when my parents were naturalized, I didn't recieve a naturalization certificate. Question about getting a US Passport? I want to get a US Passport within a few weeks because I am going to Canada. However to get it in time i would need to use the expedited service (takes 2-3 weeks instead of 4-6 weeks). Can i go to a local passport facility (there is one about 5 minutes from my house) and get the expedited service or do I have to go to a Passport Agency (the closest being in NYC and you need an appointment)? Will a credit card debt judgement deny me a US passport? I have about 6 credit cards way past due. Most of them are in collection agencies. The highest balance I have on any card is around $1,300. All together less than $5,500. This law firm called me and informed me that they will get a jugdement against me and garnish my wages if I do not settle the debt(this account has balance of around $550) I DO WANT TO PAY BACK. I have a question concerning getting a US Passport? I want to go to Canada to visit a friend but she is moving in 6 weeks. She lives in Toronto currently so driving there is doable. Why do the news US passports not say where they were issued? In the past they'd have the diplomatic mission or passport agency that issued them, now they only say the authority of the State Department.

Passport for Bahamas - Can't reach the Passport Agency? My family and I applied for passports exactly 12 weeks before a trip to the Bahamas. It's 3 weeks away and no passports. 2 of them showed up on their tracking site, but all it says is that it's "being processed." The other 2 don't even show up there after 9 weeks (site says it should show up after 4). I've been trying to call the Passport Agency constantly for a week and just get told by a machine that my call cannot be answered at this time. Not sure what to do, but I could probably get birth certificates within 3 weeks (since we had to send ours in with the application). Does anyone know if they will let us back in the country from the Bahamas with a birth certificate still? I know the law changed, but I wonder if there is a grace period or leniency. Can I get US Security Clearance with Dual Citizenship & Passport? I am applying for internship with various agencies and defense contractors who require security clearance. I was born in Turkey and have Turkish citizenship & passport. My family came to US when I was very young, and all my immediate family are US Citizens. Using a second US Passport? A while ago I thought I lost my passport and applied for another telling the agency I lost mine. I found it a while later and held on to it. I use the second passport for travel. I'd like to travel to Libya for vacation but my primary passport has an Israeli stamp AND I'd really prefer not to raise flags every time I return to the US and end up in the rubber-glove line at customs because of a Libyan visa in my passport. Would I be able to use my original passport for Libya or will alarm bells go off because that passport has been reported lost? State Department refuses to issue Passport for me...? I´m from Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and I applied for a US Passport at a Passport Agency in San Francisco, California, I took my Original Birth Certificate, SSC, DL and ID Card with me as identifications, but when I went back to pick up my passport they told me that I need some more proofs of ID´s because my name is too common and I need different stuffs like a year book, baptismal record, hospital birth record. They remained all my documents. The issue with this is that my parents passed away long time ago and I don´t know where to get a baptismal record or certificate, I don´t have a Year Book cause I didn´t finish High School. All I have now is a new birth certificate that I get a few days ago from Registro Demografico in a trip that I made to the Island to get the Birth Certificate, a new SSC, my DL and ID from CA. Passport question!!! Will he get a passport in four days? My infant son applied for us passport 14weeks ago. When we applied, the clerk of court said that we would get it by 8-10 weeks. But we did not get it in 10 weeks. So I called agent 11 weeks after we applied . The agent said that they just started to process his application that Monday. I am a son to an American citizen, I was born in Dominican Republic and came to the United States(New York)when I was 14 years old by then my father already was an American Citizen and since then I am a Permanent Resident. When I was 17 my father applied for my citizenship with the N-600 form and I was denied because my father "didn't have my custody" so Now, I'm 19 years old I was told (by an Immigration Lawyer) that I am an American Citizen and all I have to do is go to a passport agency or postal office with my Father, the necessary documents and apply for my American passport. Now my questions are: 1- if my father doesn't have my custody how come he brought me to the United States to live with him? 2- if I apply with the form N-600 my father has to go with me through the whole process? what if I get denied again because he does not have my custody ? i can't become an American citizen with the form N-600? and I have to apply with the N-400? 3- If I apply for the passport and I get my passport, how and where or when do I get the Naturalization Certificate or Certificate of Citizenship, I could get my US PASSPORT then apply for the Certificate? 4- Do I really need both? the US PASSPORT and NATURALIZATION CERTIFICATE? 5-If to get my passport i need to show my Naturalization Certificate... then is there any way any how I can prove I am an American by showing my passport and get my NC?

Do passport agencies and consulates have passport forms there? I don't have a printer to print my form. I'm going to the US Consulate on Friday. I'm driving an hour so I want to be prepaired. Can they give me the form there?

How many US citizens are being denied US passports because? They had a delayed birth certificate, were born in their house by a midwife or things like that. If these US born American citizens are being given trouble to proof citizenship by the passport agencies. Could they be in any danger of being deported should a mass deportation arise???? So far I've heard of two cases of people being denied a US passport because they can't prove they are American Citizens even though they were born here and have American birth certificates. I was applying for an English teaching job overseas and was asked by the recruiter for a copy of my passport? I have a US passport and have not been offered a job. In reading through the recruiter's very basic website, it said they required a photocopy of my passport photo page and signature page. They also wanted my photo with my resume before they would initiate a phone interview. Is this an overseas identity theft scam? I tried calling the passport agency and they couldn't tell me if it was a legitimate request or not. I don't like the idea of even giving my photo with my resume as I should not be picked for a job based on my appearance, but qualifications. But a copy of my passport and signature?

How can I find work in Iraq as a videographer? I have a B.A. in Film Studies from a top liberal arts school. I have 3+ years as a freelance videographer, but none as a journalist. I have experience traveling abroad, a valid US passport, and the nerves to work under fire. I'm not sure where to begin. I want to be on the fault lines of history. And I think Iraq would be a great place to build up my real. I appreciate and accept that Iraq is a dangerous place for journalists. Where should I begin my search?
